California Intensive Care Outcomes Project (CALICO)

CALICO was a voluntary program developed by OSHPD and the University of California at San Francisco that investigated the feasibility of public reporting for Intensive Care Unit (ICU) mortality at California hospitals. Participating hospitals collected detailed clinical data on a subset of their adult ICU patients. CALICO then provided feedback on data quality, constructed and compared risk models to provide risk-adjusted mortality rates, and provided information on processes of care to participants.
