HWDD News and Announcements

  • Song Brown-The California Healthcare Workforce Policy Commission (Commission) is pleased to announce a modification to the Song-Brown funding evaluation criteria used for the funding of applicants for Song-Brown Workforce Training Act funds. The Commission formed an Evaluation Worksheet Taskforce (Taskforce) which held meetings on March 22, 2012 and April 10, 2012. The Taskforce was composed of Commission members and program directors from each discipline funded by the Song-Brown Program. The Taskforce revised the Song-Brown funding evaluation criteria and developed a weighted point system including a scoring model for statutory criteria. The Taskforce also proposed changes to the Song-Brown evaluation criteria which included the integration of health care reform recommendations developed by the Health Workforce Development Council. The Taskforce streamlined the Song-Brown applications to follow the revised evaluation criteria. The Commission approved the work of the Taskforce at the May policy meeting on May 2, 2012 and determined that the new criteria and point system will begin with the release of the Family Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant application in June 2012. The new evaluation criteria and statutory criteria scoring model for each discipline can be found here. If you have any questions on the new funding criteria and/or point system please contact Song-Brown program staff at SongBrown@oshpd.ca.gov.
